Make a printable lucky egg
A lucky egg is a two-part egg that opens to reveal a small figure. The Jarvis 3DP tool takes your size, the hidden figure and the shell style, and builds both halves and the figure to fit each other for 3D printing.
What is a printable surprise egg?
Everybody knows surprise eggs; here you make your own. You choose both the shell and the figure inside, so the gift is made for one person only, like a surprise for children at a birthday or a holiday.
How the lucky egg maker works
The tool runs in your browser:
- Choose the egg size and the shell style.
- Choose the figure that hides inside.
- The tool builds the two egg halves so they close snugly and the figure fits inside.
- Print the halves and the figure and place the figure in the egg.
The halves are designed to match each other, so after printing you just close and open them.
Material, colour and safety
PLA is an easy and suitable choice for the egg and the figure. You can print the shell in a coloured filament or paint it with acrylics after printing. Check small figures for sharp edges and loose parts before giving them to children.
Choose the egg size based on the figure inside and your printer’s bed.
Who is it for?
It is for parents who want a creative gift for a birthday or a holiday, toy and custom product sellers, teachers and group leaders, and figure and collectible fans.
